Empowering Diversity: Help Me Attend WordCamp US!

Hey there, fellow WordPress peeps and friends!

For the first time ever, I have the opportunity to attend WordCamp US, which will take place in National Harbour, Maryland this year. But wait – it gets even better! I’m also helping to organise the Pride Party at WordCamp US!

I have been on the organising committee for the Pride Party at WCEU since 2022. These parties are a huge success (just ask anyone who attended the party in Athens this year). I’m excited to bring that same enthusiasm and sense of unity to the Pride Party at WCUS. Our aim is to foster awareness and support within the WordPress community and beyond.

I have been a dedicated member of the WordPress community for 10 years, and was proud to be on the Organising team for WCEU2023 in Athens, so this event holds immense value both personally and professionally.

It’s a chance to connect with the US WordPress community, learn from some of the brightest minds in the industry and establish meaningful relationships with other WordPress professionals and companies. I’m especially excited to network with people of diversity including women, the LGBTQI+ community and other people working in the tech industry.

But here’s the thing, I need your support to make it happen.

The expenses for this trip include travel costs like train and plane tickets, taxi fares, and accommodation in a hotel (hopefully) near the venue. Additionally, I need to cover small expenses such as food and beverages during the event.

To make this dream a reality, I’m turning towards crowdfunding to make this journey possible. I was unable to secure funding through WordCamp diversity funding opportunities, but I remain optimistic that with your help, I can get to WordCamp US.

Rest assured that every penny raised through this crowdfunding campaign will be put towards covering my expenses for the WordCamp US trip.

Transparency is vital, and I want all donors to know that their support will directly contribute to making this journey happen, and progress will be shared on the Post Status slack channel, twitter and of course on my website.

I’m beyond grateful for your support, whether it’s through donations, spreading the word, or simply believing in the power of diversity and community.
